IRNA -- Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi said on Tuesday that Tehran and Beijing are to finalize deal on modernizing Arak heavy water nuclear reactor in Vienna next week.

Speaking in the Majlis energy commission, he said for several times we have attended the energy commission to brief Majlis (parliament) representatives of the activities of (AEOI).

'We thank Majlis (parliament) for its legal supports from energy commission as well as allocation of budget to the sector, Salehi said.

Implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was among issues raised in the commission, he said.

'We are ahead of our schedule in Arak nuclear reactor and the first contract with China to this end has been inked and its final contract will be signed next week in Vienna,' Salehi added.

'The 200-page contract covers all aspects of mutual cooperation in detail,' he added.

Iran is responsible for redesigning of Arak nuclear reactor, but these designs will be scientifically assessed by the US and China as stated in the contract, Salehi said.

After redesigning the reactor by developed countries the Islamic Republic of Iran can sale such equipments which are in conformity with the international standards, Salehi said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, China and the US were appointed by the JCPOA to redesign and modernize Arak nuclear reactor.
