Veep: West sanctions created suitable opportunity for Iran, Russia to develop ties
IRNA First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri met with Tatarstan Republic President Rustam Minnikhanov here on Wednesday.


According to the report of VP website, Jahangiri said that development of ties with Russian Federation, especially with the autonomous Republic of Tatarstan has excellent position in Irans foreign policy and expressed hope that consultations and exchanging senior delegations between the two countries can pave the way for fulfillment of intentions of Iranian and Russian officials to bolster relations.

Jahangiri assessed development of cooperation with Tatarstan as important for Iran, and added that Tatarstan has special status in Russias geopolitics.

The vice-president said that there are plenty of grounds for cooperation between Iran and Russia, especially with autonomous Republic of Tatarstan, and stressed that Iran and Russia may take big steps in deepening and developing mutual ties and expansion of economic cooperation by suitable opportunity had been created by the west imposed sanctions against them.

Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan has good capabilities in manufacturing plane, ship and automobile as well as academic and scientific grounds, and expressed his interests to expand cooperation with Iran in all fields of oil, petrochemical, machineries, agriculture, new energies and modern technologies.

Reminding his meeting with Minister of Communication and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi here today, Minnikhanov said that we discussed issues in biotechnology and information technology and we negotiated issues of expansion of cooperation in the field of IT and ICT.

Considering Irans achievements and capabilities in different sectors, Minnikhanov said that the two countries may have constructive cooperation in execution of joint venture projects.

He also underlined necessity to expand mutual cooperation in the fields of tourism, science, research and education.
