Irans new ambassador submits credentials letter to Iraqi president

IRNA Irans new Ambassador to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi met on Monday with Iraqi President Fouad Massoum and submitted his letter of credentials.


After receiving the credential letter, the Iraqi president referred to good relations between the new ambassador and Iraqi officials and expressed the hope to witness further expansion of relations and cooperation between Iran and Iraq.

Lauding Iran's supports for the Iraqi government and nation at various junctures, President Massoum expressed the hope to witness further expansion of relations between the two sides mainly during the mission of the new Iranian ambassador.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to support the Iraqi government in its struggle against terrorism, said the Iranian ambassador.

Masjedi arrived in Baghadad last week and met and submited a copy of his credentials to Iraqi foreign minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari.
