IRNA � European Union (EU) Energy Commissioner Miguel Arias Canete discussed mutual cooperation with Vice-President and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi on Saturday.


In the meeting, the two sides discussed issues related to nuclear deal agreement.

Canete, who arrived in Tehran on Saturday morning, attended the first Iran-EU Energy Forum and conferred with Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian.

Canete will also meet with Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh.

Iran and the European Union started cooperation in the field of nuclear technologies following implementation of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Allocation of five million dollars for Iran to cooperate with International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) on nuclear fusion in order to boost the country's nuclear safety are among the most important cooperation between Iran and the EU in the nuclear field.

In addition to nuclear technologies, the EU has started vast activities in the field of renewable energies with Iran and the union is to invest in Iran around 100 billion dollars in the renewable energies field by the year 2020.
