IRNA Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif expressing condolences on recent terrorist attack on border in which some Iranian border guards were martyred assured Iran that Pakistan will make all efforts to bring the culprits to justice.


Prime Minister in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that Iran is a friendly neighbor of Pakistan; therefore, strong relations with Iran is a key element in Pakistan's foreign policy.

He noted that any threat to Iran is tantamount to a threat to Pakistan.

On the tragic incident in which some Iranian border guards were martyred by the terrorists the Prime Minister conveyed Pakistan's serious condolences to the government and people of Iran.

He assured Iran that Pakistan will take all necessary measures to bring the culprits to justice.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction on increasing high-level exchanges between the two countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation in diverse fields.

He hoped that the two sides will continue to expand economic interaction for promoting mutually beneficial cooperation in the diverse fields.

Zarif during the meeting said that there is a need for the deployment of more Pakistani security forces to ensure the security of Iran-Pakistan border.

He said that some terrorist groups are committing brutal crimes in the border region; therefore, more attention is required to be paid on the border issues.

He said that last year has shown positive growth in Iran-Pakistan political and economic ties, and hoped that this relationship would further grow in future.

Zarif noted that terrorist activities in border region mean that some external elements are not happy with the strong Iran-Pakistan ties.

The Iranian Foreign Minister demanded the Pakistani authorities to enhance interaction with Iran for the early recovery of abducted border guards.

Zarif during the visit also met with Pakistan Army Chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and National Security Adviser of Pakistan Lt Gen (R) Nasser Khan Janjua.
