May 7, The Iran Project Iran has achieved self-sufficiency in manufacturing agricultural machinery, says an official in the Ministry of Agriculture.
Attending the opening ceremony of the 9th Intl Exhibition for Agriculture, Irrigation, Ingredients, Related Machinery and Industries in Orumiyeh on Saturday, Head of Iran's Agricultural Mechanization Development Center, Kambiz Abbasi, said more than 90 percent of modernized machines are produced inside the country and this self-alliance can be a perfect symbol of resistance economy.
In the past four years, nearly 40 new technologies in agriculture, such as anti-hail system devices, anti-frost and conservation agriculture have been designed and manufactured in the country, Abbasi noted.
He also stated that under President Rouhani's government, 32 trillion rials ($829 million) have been spent for the mechanization of agricultural machinery.
Head of Iran's Agricultural Mechanization Development Center added that 80 thousand sets of farming and gardening tractors and 180 sets of trails have also been purchased and thereby increased the rate of mechanization in agriculture sector.
The 9th Intl Exhibition for Agriculture, Irrigation, Ingredients, Related Machinery and Industries opened on May 6 and will last until May 9.
Marketing, creating competitive atmosphere, investment attraction, sharing information and experience and presenting new products are among the goals of the exhibit.
