IRNA Head of the Supervisory Board of the Presidential Elections Abroad said that the 12th presidential election will be held in 310 pollling stations in 102 countries on Friday May 19.
Hassan Qashqavi, also Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates Affairs Hassan Qashqavi, told IRNA on Thursday that some 55 polling stations in the US, 21 in UAE, 22 in Iraq, 12 in Britain will take votes of the Iranian expatriates in foreign states.
Since talks for holding elections in Canada remained inconclusive, it was agreed to set up several ballot boxes on its border with the US, he said.
Voting will take place in foreign countries from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and ambassadors and representative offices will play the role of the interior minister to extend the period if necessary, he said.
Iran's 12th presidential elections will be held concurrent with the 5th city and village councils elections and mid-term parliamentary elections on May 19.
Presidential contenders include incumbent President Hassan Rouhani, Seyyed Mostafa Hashemi-Taba, Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi and Seyyed Mostafa Mirsalim.
