Irans all-out effort to solve Arab crisis

IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif talked on the phone with a number of his counterparts on the latest developments in the region, particularly the ongoing crisis in the Persian Gulf Arab states.

In separate telephone conversations with foreign ministers of Turkey, Indonesia, Iraq, Oman, Tunisia, Malaysia, Lebanon, Algeria, Kuwait as well as High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, Zarif highlighted the need for dialogue to solve the current problems.

In a joint action, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, along with Egypt, have cut diplomatic relations with Qatar under the pretext that Doha is supporting terrorism and closed air, sea and land borders with the Persian Gulf emirate.

Suspending flights between the countries is among other measures taken by the countries against Qatar which also reciprocally did the same.

Earlier Zaif had called on Persian Gulf Arab states to resolve their current dispute through dialogue.

Neighbors are permanent; geography can't be changed. Coercion is never the solution. Dialog is imperative, especially during blessed Ramadan, he wrote on his twitter page on Monday.
