Sputnik - Four Arab states reportedly agreed to extend requirements deadline for Qatar for another 48 hours after Kuwait urged to do so.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) Kuwait urged Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt toextend the deadline given toQatar forresponse toa list ofdemands foranother 48 hours, local media reported onSunday.
According tothe Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the move followed afterKuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah received Qatars Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani who handed the letter fromEmir ofQatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani withQatar's response tothe list.
The four countries have agreed toextend the deadline, according toAl Arabiya TV network.
On June 5, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt broke offdiplomatic relations and communication withQatar, accusing it ofsupporting terrorism and interfering intheir internal affairs. Later, the Maldives, Mauritius, and Mauritania also announced the severance ofdiplomatic relations. Jordan and Djibouti reduced the level oftheir diplomatic missions inQatar.
Last week, Kuwait, which is serving asa mediator betweenQatar and the Gulf States, handed the demands ofSaudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain overto Doha. The requests include the severance ofQatars relations withIran, closure ofTurkeys military base onQatar's territory and a shutdown ofthe Al Jazeera TV channel. Doha was given 10 days toimplement the demands, the deadline expired onSunday.
Qatar has called the conditions impossible and urged fortheir revision.
