Ebtekar: UN supports countries facing particle pollution

IRNA -- Vice-President and Head of Department of Environment (DoE) Masoumeh Ebtekar said UN supports the countries facing particle pollution problem.

Talking to IRNA, Ebtekar said the UN supports would pave the ground for settlement of particle problems.

Touching upon the International Conference on Combating Sand and Dust Storms (SDS) recently held in Tehran, she described the active presence of UN as one of the positive achievements of this environmental event.

The particle pollution is one of the main challenges facing the countries surrounding Iran, Entekar said, urging regional states to collaborate aimed at settling the issue.

International Conference on Combating Sand and Dust Storms (SDS) started work in Tehran on Monday (July 3) with participation of 34 world countries which have been affected more by the SDS.

The International Conference on Combating Sand and Dust Storms (SDS) which was hosted by the United Nations (UN) and Iranian Department of Environment reviewed Challenges and Practical Solutions to the issue.

Iran is among the world countries which have been badly hurt by the SDS phenomenon.

Iranian government has mounted a national campaign to fight the SDS, and it also has had active presence in the international events, which has led to approval of four resolutions about the issue.
