IRNA Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araqchi said that Iran is now standing in the frontline of fighting two global challenges of drug smuggling and terrorism.
In a meeting with Secretary General of INTERPOL Jurgen Stock who is currently in Iran to attend the two-day 13th Operational Working Group Meeting on International Counter-Terrorism Mechanism, Araqchi expressed pleasure over close cooperation between INTERPOL and Iranian police, voicing Foreign Ministrys readiness for helping promote mutual collaboration.
Noting that Iran is in the forefront of fighting drug smuggling and terrorism, the two problems pose grave threats for all the countries, including regional states, and countering the threats require international cooperation and using INTERPOL capacities.
Stock, for his part, referred to good and close cooperation between INTERPOL and Iranian police in the field of fighting terrorism and drug smuggling, highlighting Irans significant role in battling these international crimes.
He also hailed Irans valuable experience in the field.
The two-day 13th Operational Working Group Meeting on International Counter-Terrorism Mechanism launched in the Iranian capital, Tehran on Monday.
