Iranian, Italian provinces promote ties

IRNA Hormuzgan Province welcomes the contracts leading to joint investments in different sectors between the Iranian province and Apulia, Italy, said the Governor of Hormuzgan on Wednesday.


The Governor of Hormuzgan Province Jassem Jadari, along with a delegation, has taken a trip to Italy to promote ties with Apulia region and its capital Bari.

One of the goals of the trip is to sign the sisterhood agreement between Bandar Abbas and Bari.

Bandar Abbas, a port city and capital of Hormuzgan Province on the southern coast of Iran, on the Persian Gulf, is a historical city which the major part of its background dates back to the time of the Portuguese occupying some regions and islands in the Persian Gulf around 400 years ago. The city is also a strategic position on the narrow Strait of Hormuz.

Hormuzgan Province, like other Irans provinces, has been affected by the JCPOA in a way that in the recent months we have been witnessing different countries investors willingness and some foreign investments in the province, said Jadari.

He made the remarks with regards to the similarity between Bandar Abbas and Bari from various facets including port, trade, and the access to sea routes.

Bari, the capital city of the Metropolitan City of Bari and of the Apulia region, located on the on the Adriatic Sea, in Italy, is the second most important economic centre of mainland Southern Italy after Naples.

The president of the Apulia Region Michele Emiliano expressed his content with the Iranian delegations trip to Apulia and said, Tourism, transferring advanced technology and science as well as student exchange are the realms suitable for cooperation between the two provinces.
