Iran eyes attracting 1 mln foreign tourists through medical tourism

Xinhua -- Iran hopes to attract 1 million health tourists through promoting medical tourism, which boasts the advantage of low price, the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported Wednesday.

Iranian Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Rabiee told an international meeting on medical tourism on Tuesday that the most important feature in Iran's medical tourism industry is its low price compared to other countries.

Representatives of 32 countries attended the meeting held in Mashad, the report said.

Rabiee said Iran's medical tourism has other attractions as well, including Iran's high security, experienced medical staff, spas, salt-water lakes, and mud therapy facilities.

The minister added that Iran ranks 4th, 5th and 10th in the world in terms of historical attractions, climate and natural beauty, respectively.
