UK underlines commitment to Iran's nuclear deal

IRNA - UK envoy to Iran highlighted the positive developments in ties between the two states and stressed that London is bound to all its commitments enshrined in the nuclear deal reached between the Islamic Republic and world powers.


Iran and G5+1 (the five permanent members of the United Nations Security CouncilChina, France, Russia, United Kingdom, United Statesplus Germany) inked a nuclear deal, also known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in Vienna on 14 July 2015. According to the deal, Iran would limit its peaceful nuclear activities in exchange for removal of its sanctions.

Speaking to reporters during his visit to Anzali Free Trade Zone in the northern province of Gilan, Nicholas Hopton noted that Iran and UK can remove obstacles in the way and speed up their financial and economic cooperation.

He highlighted Gilan province's good geographical status, weather and high trade, tourism and economic capacities.

'Given the capacities, investment opportunities and infrastructure of the Anzali FTZ, I will introduce the region to British companies,' the envoy added.

He said that there are plans for scheduling British companies' visit to Anzali FTZ and at the first phase, linking the London financial institutions to the region is on the agenda.
