Sputnik - Militants have violated the ceasefire regime in Syria's Homs de-escalation zone, killing one civilian and injuring two more, local media reported Friday.
BEIRUT (Sputnik) According tothe SANA news agency, terrorist groups violated the ceasefire regime byshelling civilian houses inthe Ar Rastan district, located north ofHoms.
The memorandum onthe establishment offour de-escalation zones inSyria was signed inAstana inMay, withRussia, Iran and Turkey acting asthe guarantors ofthe ceasefire regime. On Thursday, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said the representatives ofthe Russian Defense Ministry and moderate Syrian opposition reached an agreement duringtheir meeting inCairo onJuly 31 onthe third de-escalation zone inSyria, north ofHoms.
Prior tothat, the agreement was reached onthe two de-escalation zones, inthe rebel-controlled south alongthe border withJordan and inEastern Ghouta. The functioning ofthe remaining fourth zone inIdlib is yet tobe agreed withthe Syrian opposition.
The ceasefire inSyrian de-escalation zones does not cover the militants ofthe Jabhat Fatah al Sham, formerly known asNusra Front, and the Islamic State (IS) terrorist groups, both banned inRussia.
