DNA test conducted for Iranian Hajj martyrs

IRNA An Iranian senior Hajj official said on Tuesday that in the past couple of days, DNA test was carried out for the bodies of the remaining Iranian martyrs in Saudi Arabia.

Mohammad Azad said that the tests were conducted in the presence of both Iranian and Saudi officials.

'The results will be announced in a few days,' Azad added.

About 500 Iranian pilgrims were killed during a stampede in 2015 Hajj annual congregation when, according to reports, two large groups of pilgrims arrived together at a crossroads in Mina, a few kilometers east of Mecca, on their way to performing the 'Stoning of the Devil' ritual at Jamarat.

The families of the seven martyrs who were not recognized are at Saudi Arabia for the DNA tests.

Following the 2015 Hajj incident and the historic message of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, most of the bodies were transferred to Iran.
