IRNA Some Pakistani media quoting foreign ministry sources said that Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif will visit Iran, China, Russia and Turkey for consultations on the new American policy for Afghanistan and South Asia.
According to reports the regional tour would be carried out in the second week of September.
Chairperson of Pakistan Senate committee on foreign affairs Nuzhat Sadiq told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that in previous days Foreign Ministers visit to the regional countries have been discussed both in Senate and National Assembly and all of the parliamentarians have insisted that Khawaja Asif needs to visit regional states including Iran to discuss and have consultations on recent developments with them.
Last week foreign ministry spokesperson had formally announced that foreign minister will visit China, Russia and Turkey but now it looks Iran has also been included in Khawaja Asifs planned regional tour.
The US President Donald Trump announcing his new strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia on August 21, denounced Pakistan for allegedly allowing terrorists to maintain safe havens inside its territory.
Trumps speech was perceived by many, including the Pakistani government and parliament, as a direct threat to the countrys sovereignty.
