IRNA - Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri and his Turkish counterpart General Hulusi Akar in a meeting in the Iranian capital on Monday emphasized enhancement of military cooperation between the two nations.
In addition to political and economic cooperation between Iran and Turkey, the neighboring nations are trying to promote military cooperation, General Akar said in a press conference after his meeting with his Iranian counterpart.
The Turkish General went on to say that attempts are underway to develop military cooperation between Ankara and Tehran.
Meanwhile, Genaral Baqeri expressed hope for the Turkish delegation visit to Iran to result in closer relations between Tehran and Ankara and bolstering of security in the two neighboring countries.
He also, described the referendum in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region as a common threat for both countries, saying Iran and Turkey has the same stance as regard to the unity and territorial integrity of Iraq.
The two Generals stressed that both Iran and Turkey do not recognize the September 25 referendum in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
