No adverse effect on Iran market after Trump speech: Iran official

IRNA Recent anti-Iran remarks by US President Donald Trump had no adverse effect on the Iranian market and did not disturb it, Iran's vice-president for economic affairs said on Sunday.

Iranian politicians and economic officials managed to respond appropriately to Trump's anti-Iran rhetoric, Mohammad Nahavandian said, addressing the Iran-Iraq business forum kicked off in Tehran Sunday morning.

Trump's speech produced no adverse effect in the Iranian markets, neither did it frustrated the country's markets, Nahavandian said.

Trump on Friday took a new strategy toward Iran and decertified Tehran's commitment to the 2015 landmark nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

During his address at the forum, Nahavandian, also referred to Tehran-Baghdad relations, saying Iran and Iraq are determined to strengthen their economic cooperation.

Further, he stressed the importance of preserving national unity and territorial integrity in Iraq, the southwestern neighbor of the Islamic Republic.

Nahavandian and Kamal al-Basri, senior economic advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister as well as other senior economic officials from Iran and Iraq are present in the two-day event held in Iran the International Conference Center in Tehran.
