Zarif wraps up his S. African tour

October 24, The Iran Project On the second day of his visit, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, held talks with South African President Jacob Zuma late Monday and addressed a meeting with Iranian Diaspora in Pretoria on Tuesday.

Enhancing political and economic relations between the two countries, regional and international developments and mutual cooperation were among the topics discussed during the meeting between Zarif and Zuma.

Addressing a meeting with Iranian Diaspora in Pretoria, Zarif said no mudslinging from people like US President Donald Trump can spoil Iran's honor and defense, as long as Iranians back their country, Islamic establishment and Revolution.

Once again, we hear whispers from political newcomers; we need to recount that Iran has fought all the corruptions, sanctions, wars, and aggressions successfully, he added.

'We seek peace and stability for the region. We seek interaction with the whole world. But we dont need, like certain Persian Gulf states, to run to Camp David as soon as the US frowned at them,' Iranian Foreign Minster noted.

Also, Iranian commercial attach to S. Africa Mehrdad Siadat Nasabon the sidelines of Iran-South Africa joint commission meeting on Monday stated thatbased on Iran-South Africa trade ties roadmap, Iran is scheduled to increase non-oil exports to South Africa to $2 billion by 2020.

,He added that the trade exchange volume between two countries is now about $400 million.

Siadat Nasab expressed hope for the commission to bring solution for banking ties and to increase trade ties between Iran and South Africa.

Zarif arrived on Sunday in Pretoria as the first leg of his African tour which will take him to later to Uganda and Niger.

Iranian foreign minister wrapped up his trip to South Africa on Tuesday afternoon and left Pretoria for Ugandan capital, Kampala.

Mohammad Javad Zarif is expected to meet and confer with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and the country's Foreign Minister Sam Kahamba Kutesa on broadening of bilateral ties.

The foreign minister and his accompanying delegation slated to attend several trade and economic forums held during the visit.
