IRNA - Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei received the visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Heidar al-Abadi in Tehran on Thursday.
First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri officially welcomed al-Abadi at Saadabad Cultural and Historical Complex in Tehran on Thursday.
Al-Abadi, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived in Tehran late Wednesday.
Upon his arrival at Mehrabad airport, Al-Abadi was warmly welcomed by Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari.
On Wednesday, the Office of al-Abadi in a statement announced that the Iraqi PM headed for visits to Turkey and Iran, completing a regional tour that included Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt.
The visit is aimed at reinforcing Iraq's cooperation with the regional countries, the statement reads.
