IRNA UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson planned visit to Tehran is an effective step towards strengthening bilateral ties in the post-nuclear deal era, an Iranian lawmaker said on Saturday.
'Iran has always been ready to boost ties with other countries within the framework of preservation of principles and mutual respect,' Ali Najafi, a member of Majlis (Parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission told IRNA.
Britain, as Najafi said, is an important European country with which Iran has had long-lasting relations.
Johnson's visit to Tehran that will take place in the coming months is important regarding regional and bilateral developments, the parliamentarian said.
'It will also help strengthen international relations in order to preserve the July 2015 deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA),' he added.
UK, as he said, is 'well aware of the good position Iran has in the international and regional levels.'
Spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Bahram Qasemi has recently announced that Boris Johnson's visit to Iran is on both countries' agenda, saying, 'We are arranging the trip.'
