Financial Tribune- Trade between Iran and Greece exceeded 1.23 million during the 11 months to Nov. 30, registering a 92% hike compared with the similar period of last year, based on the latest Eurostat figures shared with Financial Tribune.

Iran exported over 1.2 billion worth of commodities to Greece during the period, which shows a 96% upsurge year-on-year. Imports from the European country into Iran amounted to 28.46 million, nearly unchanged compared with the preceding years corresponding period.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was the first western leader to visit Iran after the lifting of international sanctions against Iran over Tehrans nuclear program. Greece will become an energy, economic and trade bridge between Iran and European Union, Tsipras said in Tehran in February 2016. Sanctions against Iran began to roll back as of January 16, 2016, as part of the nuclear deal the country signed with world powers a year earlier.
