Iran eyes increased Y/Y petchem output

SHANA - Iran's petrochemical sector is expected to yield 5% more output in the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21 compared to the previous year, a senior petrochemical official says.

Speaking on Tuesday, Managing Director of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Reza Norouz-Zadeh said production of petrochemical plants has increased by 5% in the current calendar year, adding, "We are moving towards realization of nameplate capacity of the sector."

According to NIPNA, he said: "We are witnessing development of various sectors including the oil industry in Iran thanks to availability of skilled Iranian labor who need to be heeded more than before as these human capitals can save the country in difficult times."

He said Iran's petrochemical output stands at 44 million tons since March 2017, adding a 5-percent increase is estimated in the sector's productivity this year.

"This would mean that we are getting closer to the plants' nameplate productivity," the official added.
