January 31, The Iran Project - Several top Iranian officials have recently slammed the US Representative in the UN Nikki Haleys special banquet attended by US President Donald Trump and ambassadors of UNSC member states to display debris of the missiles allegedly provided by Iran to members of Yemen Ansarallah Movement.
The Iranian officials including Leaders Aide on International Affairs, Ali Akbar Velayati, and Parliaments General Director for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian as well as Chairman of Majlis (Parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi in separate remarks have censured the move.
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also in a series of tweets responded to Haley's false claims.
Velayati described the banquet as a puppet show, adding that:Iran will keep up its way of supporting popular movements of freedom in the region with no doubt.
They are explicitly accusing our country of interfering in Yemen while implicitly they are denying the braveness, resistance, and dedication of the Yemeni nation, he asserted after dismissing the US anti-Iran claims of Iran support in Yemen as baseless accusations.
Amir-Abdollahian said the charges against Iran over Yemen are completely baseless, adding that, "Tehran has never advocated a military solution to the region and Yemen. Yemens future belongs to all Yemeni people. We have said it from the beginning that the solution to the Yemen crisis is purely a political one.
Meanwhile, Boroujerdi stated that the futile efforts by US Trump to dent the global image of the Islamic Republic of Iran will go nowhere.
The MP said that the US measures are in line with the efforts made by the triangle of Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United States.
Referring to behind-the-scene efforts by the US for new scenarios to disintegrate Syria, the lawmaker said these are futile efforts too.
