Police pursuing recent cyber-attacks against Iranian websites: Spokesman

Tasnim The Iranian Cyber Police (also known as FATA) is pursuing the issue of recent cyber-attacks against the websites of some newspapers in Iran, Police Spokesman Brigadier General Saeed Montazer-al-Mahdi announced.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Brigadier General Montazer-al-Mahdi pointed to a recent move by unknown hackers who accessed the websites of some of the countrys dailies and published false reports, saying that the cyber-attacks were trivial.

Fortunately, the administrators of the hacked websites immediately reported the issue on their social media accounts, he noted.

The spokesman further made assurances that FATA police would definitely pursue those behind the cyber-attacks on the websites.

Head of Irans Civil Defense Organization Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali also told the Tasnim News Agency that the organization would definitely invistigate the issue and announce the results as soon as possible.

Late on Saturday, hackers accessed the websites of Ghanoon and Armana newspapers and changed their Farsi top stories to a fabricated report.

No one has claimed responsibility for the cyber-attacks.
