French delegation on way to Iran to review ATR plane crash

IRNA A seven-member delegation from France is to arrive in Tehran tonight to examine the reason behind the crash of an ATR passenger plane in central Iran on February 18, an Iranian official announced on Monday.

Members of the French delegation are to attend the meetings reviewing the plane crash incident after which all passengers and the crew on board were reportedly dead, Reza Jafarzadeh, head of Iran's Civil Aviation Organization public relations office told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Three persons of the French delegation are members of a civil aviation incident investigations commission and the rest are the officials of the ATR company, French-Italian aircraft manufacturer, Jafarzadeh said.

A Canadian company, which manufactured the ATR engines, has also expressed readiness to dispatch its experts to Iran if needed to review the case, the official added.

About the visit of the French experts as the manufacturers of the Iranian ATR plane, Jafarzadeh said it is taking place under the international regulations to find the cause of the crash.

About the black box of the crashed plane, the official said it has not been found yet, but its information can be decoded in Iran; however, if the manufacturing company asks for it, it can be transported there.

The Asseman Airlines' passenger plane crashed in the Kohangan Village near the Padena region, 120 Km from Semirom in Isfahan Province, center of Iran. The debris of the plane has not been found yet, but all the 66 passengers and crew of it are reportedly killed.
