Tasnim The commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Construction Base, a conglomerate belonging to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), pledged that Iran would outstrip neighboring Qatar in terms of production of oil and gas from joint fields.
In the past, Qatars extraction from joint fields used to be more than that of Iran, but today, the Islamic Republics production has now reached a level equal to the Arab countrys, General Ebadollah Abdollahi said in a ceremony held in the southern province of Bushehr on Thursday to mark the end of the construction of a platform due to be installed on Phase 22 of Irans giant South Pars gas field.
With the launch of such platforms, our production will further increase he said, adding that if the platforms are installed, about 125 million cubic meters of natural gas will be extracted on a daily basis.
Back in April 2017, the South Pars Phases 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 were inaugurated by Irans President Hassan Rouhani.
The gas field, whose development has been divided into 28 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf straddling the maritime border between Iran and Qatar.
It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, of which 3,700 square kilometers belongs to Iran.
It is estimated that the Iranian section of the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates in place.
