IRNA � Iran will stand by Iraq in reconstruction era as it did during the fight against Daesh terrorists, Iranian 1st Vice-President said Thursday.


Eshaq Jahangiri made the remarks in a Thursday's meeting with Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Salim al-Jabouri.

Despite all difficulties and dangers, Iranian firms and engineers stood by Iraq during Daesh era and some of them were martyred, he said.

Some regional and trans-regional countries dividing terrorism into good and bad ones have caused problems for regional nations, he noted.

The Iraqi people and government stood against terrorism and they proved that a country will be able to defeat terrorism through resistance and conversion, the Iranian veep said.

Jahangiri referred to upcoming elections in Iraq, saying Iran is a democratic country and the representatives of Majlis (Iranian Parliament) are elected by people.

Some animosities against Iran and Iraq is due to their democratic nature, he said.

'We support the territorial integrity of Iraq and unit of Sunni, Shia and Kurdish people,' he noted.

Jahangiri is heading a high-ranking delegation comprising political and economic officials in his three-day visit.

Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari and Minister of Agricultural Jihad Mahmoud Hojjati are accompanying the first vice-president.
