Iran to receive 8 ATR72 passenger planes in 2018

IRNA Eight Franco-Italian ATR72-600 aircraft are scheduled to be delivered to Iran in 2018, the advisor to former road and urban development minister for international affairs said.


Based on the agreement signed by Iran Air and Airbus, if we can pay in advance, three Airbus aircraft will also be added to our fleet, Asghar Fakhrieh Kashan told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Wednesday.

'Nothing has changed in the contract with Boeing Company but due to US Presidents unpredictable decisions we have to avoid taking risks,' he added.

According to the agreement, Boeing should deliver 3 airplanes to Iran in 2018.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Fakhrieh Kashan referred to Iran commitments to nuclear deal, saying US limitations on delivering Boeing planes is against the JCPOA.

After the implementation of Iran nuclear deal also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran's national flag-carrier Iran Air signed contract with French Airbus, American Boeing and Franco-Italian ATR, to buy 200 aircraft.

Iran Air signed a contract with ATR to purchase 20 ATR72 passenger planes from the Franco-Italian company after removal of the Western imposed international sanctions against Iran.

The ATR 72 is a twin-engine turboprop, short-haul regional airliner developed and produced in France and Italy by aircraft manufacturer ATR (Aerei da Trasporto Regionale or Avions de transport rgional), a joint venture formed by French aerospace company Arospatiale (now Airbus) and Italian aviation conglomerate Aeritalia.
