IRNA Tehran and Hanoi are determined to promote economic cooperation by increasing their annual trade exchanges to two billion dollars, an Iranian diplomat announced on Saturday.
During the recent visit of Iranian Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani to Vietnam, the two sides stressed importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in various areas, Saleh Adibi, Iran's ambassador to Cambodia and Vietnam told Islamic Republic News Agency.
Larijani at the head of an Iranian delegation visited Vietnam from April 16-18.
Elaborating on Larijani's Hanoi visit, the ambassador said it was fruitful and achieved positive outcomes.
The two sides, Adibi said, underlined the importance of promoting their long-lasting relations as they enjoy the 45 years of good bilateral ties.
About measures taken to foster Tehran-Hanoi relations, Adibi said the ninth session of Iran-Vietnam joint economic commission was held in the Iranian capital last year.
Also, Iran's Mahan Air airline has offered chartered flights from Tehran to Hanoi which, as Adibi said, is an important step towards developing bilateral ties.
The Iranian parliament speaker has too called for accelerating the process of implementing mutual agreements between Tehran and Hanoi, Adibi added.
He expressed hope that Iran and Vietnam would witness bright future for their economic relations.
