Tehran, Beirut study ways to further develop academic relations
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology Kamran Daneshjou and Chancellor of Lebanon University Adnan Sayyed Husseinin a meeting in Tehran on Monday conferred on ways to further expand ties between the two countries' universities.
During the meeting in Tehran today, Daneshjou and Sayyed Hussein underlined the need for the enhancement of the level of mutual cooperation between universities of Iran and Lebanon.

During the meeting, the Iranian minister of science, research and technology pointed to the readiness of Iranian universities for cooperation with Lebanon University in the field of aerospace, nano- and bio- technologies, stem cells and new energies, and said, "The Lebanon University had formerly asked for joint cooperation with Iran's scientific and research centers in the field of laser and nanotechnology, which has been welcomed by the Iranian universities and research centers and now needs to be put into action."

The chancellor of Lebanon University, for his part, underlined the need for the broadening of scientific and research relations between Iran and Lebanon, stressed that his university if fond of the Iranian literature and culture, saying, "The Persian language has been taught in Lebanon University since 1970 "

Sayyed Hussein pointed to the memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed between Lebanon University and Iranian universities, and said, "The Lebanon University has already signed MoUs with Tehran University, Shahid Beheshti University and Sharif University of Technology in the field of nano- and bio- technologies."

Iran and Lebanon enjoy cordial relations and have further expanded these ties in recent years.

The two sides have exchanged several delegations of high-ranking officials in the last three years.
