Iran FM leaves New York for Tehran

IRNA - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif left New York for Tehran at the end of his 6-day working trip and participation in the UN General Assembly High-level Meeting on Sustaining Peace.


During his stay in New York, the Iranian foreign minister, besides delivering a speech at the UNGA meeting, held exclusive interviews with some American media outlets including CBS, Al-Monitor, NPR, Associated Press, New Yorker and New York Time.

He also participated in a Council of Foreign Relations meeting Tuesday night, made an opening speech and answered questions raised by the audience.

In his interviews, Zarif commented on the latest developments relating to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and Iran's option in case of a possible US exit from the international pact as well as other regional issues such as the crises in Syria and Yemen.

He also held separate talks the UN secretary general, the chairman of the UN General Assembly and his counterparts from Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Germany and Poland.
