Knowledge-based companies produce new medicines

Press TV - At least five medicines produced by Iranian knowledge-based companies have been registered in Russia, says Irans Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari.

This is the first time that medicines produced by Iranian knowledge-based companiesare registered in a foreign country.

At least five medicines produced by our knowledge-based companies have been registered in Russia, he said on Saturday in an address to an official ceremony in Tehran.

According to Sattari? last year Iranian knowledge-based companies exported products worth $450mn.

He said the overall sales figure of some knowledge-based companies in Iran hits $120mn each.

The government offers over 140 types of services to knowledge-based companies in Iran and now we are going to offer new services in civil aviation, he said.



Elsewhere in his address, Sattari blamed oil economy for hampering technological development of Iran. Some people think they can buy the new technology by oil money but technology should be learned instead of being purchased.

He called for growing up new generations of scientists and entrepreneurs and said to fulfill the goal, Iran needs to establish more knowledge-based companies.

We cannot run the country with oil money. We need to create more knowledge-based companies and grow up more scientists and technologists, he added.

Sattari noted technology transference should be carried out by the private sector rather than the private sector.

He then described tart-ups as the main engine of todays economy and said the startups can play a leading role in encouraging Iranian engineers and specialists living abroad to return to their homeland.
