Hatamikia’s ‘Damascus Time’ in Cannes film market

Financial Tribune- Ebrahim Hatamikia’s thriller “Damascus Time” was screened at the Cannes Film Market on Sunday.

It was the film’s international premiere at one of the largest film markets in the world at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival, May 8-19, Cinematicket reported.

The movie is about the so-called Islamic State terror group in Syria, where two Iranian pilots flying humanitarian aid from Iran to war-ravaged Syria are taken hostage by the Salafist organization (aka Daesh and ISIS) at Damascus Airport.

Iranian actors including Babak Hamidiyan and Hadi Hejazifar are in the cast along with Syrian and Lebanese actors.

Damascus Time won three Crystal Simorgh awards at the 36th Fajr Film Festival in February including best director and best film score awards.

Established in 1959, Cannes Film Market is held annually in conjunction with the festival in Cannes, France.
