IRNA � Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita in an interview with American media Fox News accused Iran of supporting Polisario Front.

According to Fox News, Bourita said that his country's intelligence service discovered that the Iranian proxy Hezbollah was supplying the Polisario Front rebel group with arms.

�In April this year a new level was reached - which is providing military equipment,� he said.

He said that the military equipment included the SAM-11, SAM-9 and Strela surface-to-air missile system.

Bringing no evidence, he referred to the recent visits of senior Hezbollah leaders' meetings with senior Polisario military leaders, including the men responsible for Hezbollah�s external relations for military training and logistics.

He also claimed that the Iranian embassy in Algeria was used to fund the Polisario. He said the embassy�s cultural attach�; Amir Mousavi, is believed to be the person running the operation.

'It�s our understanding that he�s more powerful than the ambassador himself and his connection(s) are the strategic advisors to the Supreme Guide to the Islamic Republic of Iran,� he added.

Lebanese Hezbollah earlier in a statement refuted allegations made by Morocco that it supported Polisario fighters.

Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi also refuted allegations that Iran embassy in Algeria cooperated with Polisario Front.

Polisario Front is a Sahrawi rebel national liberation movement aiming to end Moroccan presence in the Western Sahara. It is an observer member of the Socialist International.

The United Nations considers the Polisario Front to be the legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people and maintains that the Sahrawis have a right to self-determination.

The Polisario Front is outlawed in the parts of Western Sahara under Moroccan control, and it is illegal to raise its party flag (often called the Sahrawi flag) there.
