Armenian president urges boosting cooperation with Iran

IRNA Armenian President Armen Sarkissian on Sunday called for promoting cooperation with Tehran and using existing capacities to that point.


In a meeting with Irans Ambassador in Yerevan Kazem Sajjadi, he also discussed bilateral issues, cooperation in different spheres, and Iranian Armenian communitys collaboration with Iranian expatriates.

Sajjadi congratulated Sarkissians election as the new Armenian president, wishing him and his government success.

Referring to friendly ties between the two countries as well as Iranian and Armenian officials resolve for boosting ties in all fields, Sajjadi urged enhancement of bilateral relations.

He also described signing preferential tariff agreement between Iran and Eurasia in Astana as a suitable opportunity for boosting economic ties.

Sajjadi also called for using Irans Armenian community and Iranian expatriates for investment in Iran and Armenia.

Pointing to long-standing and friendly ties between the two countries, he said that Tehran and Yerevan should utilize existing capacities for boosting cooperation.
