Iran president envoy leaves Malaysia for Indonesia

IRNA Iranian President's special envoy on Tuesday evening local time left Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur for the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.


Speaking to Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Masoumeh Ebtekar said that conveying the message of President Hassan Rouhani to Indonesian President Joko Widodo is the aim of her trip.

Special envoy of Iran president and Malaysia's new prime minister met and discussed various issues on Tuesday.

Ebtekar delivered the message of Iran's President to PM Mahathir Mohammad and congratulated him on his victory in the recent election.

The Pakatan Harapan bloc led by Mahathir Mohamad won a simple majority in parliament in May elections and won 122 out of 222 seats, enough to form the next government and to oust Najib Razak.

Ebtekar is the first Iranian official who visits Malaysia since election in the country that led to the victory of Mahathir Mohammad.

Ebtekar, vice president for women's affairs of Iran met also with Malaysia's Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah as well as Wan Azizah binti Wan Ismail who is the country's deputy prime minister and minister of women, family and community development.

Iran and Malaysia have been enjoying bilateral political-economic ties since 1966.
