Global backing of Iran deal important to peace: Vice president
IRNA Cooperation of the global community, including Indonesia as the biggest Islamic country and a Non-Alignment Movement leader, is very important for keeping the Iran nuclear deal, said the visiting special envoy of Iran's president in Jakarta.

'The Iran Deal [formally the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)] is not just an agreement between Iran and a few Western countries, rather it is an international document put together in line with promotion of cooperation to preserve global peace and security,' said Masoumeh Ebtekar in a meeting with the Indonesian Foreign Ministry Retno Marsudi on Wednesday.

She added that her country Iran expects all the signatories of the 2015 international accord to stay committed to it.

Marsudi, on her part, said that the Indonesian government has always supported diplomacy as the best way to resolve issues.

'Indonesia has remained to be a supporter of the JCPOA and it wants all the parties to the deal to try to preserve it to help promote international peace and stability,' she said.

Ebtekar and Marsudi also discussed economic relations, investment, setting up joint economic commissions, banking ties, fostering oil cooperation, etc.

After a one-day visit to Malaysia, Ebtekar left for Jakarta to submit message of Iran's President Hassan Rouhani to his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo.

When in Malaysia, she delivered the message of President Rouhani to Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad and congratulated him on his reelection.
