Russia reiterates supporting JCPOA

IRNA Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized supporting Iran nuclear deal famously known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Speaking to Russian TV channel on his meeting with US President Donald Trump in Helsinki, Finland, President Putin said JCPOA guarantees the prevention of nuclear weapons proliferation in the region.

Russia has not changed its stance on Iran Deal; he said, adding that the JCPOA is regarded as a tool to prevent nuclear proliferation.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) had its most inspections on the JCPOA, the Russian president noted.

'It is unfortunate to lose such an instrument,' he added.

The Russian president also said that he understands Trump's approach towards the nuclear deal.

But Trumps efforts at highlighting Iran regional policy and the countrys missile program should not disrupt the JCPOA.

President Putin went on to refer to the agreement between Moscow and Washington on establishing de-escalation zones in southern Syria, saying the agreement has been reached to address Israels security concerns.

He said that the issue has been also raised previously with the Iranian side.
