Iran parliament approves bill on child support

IRNA Iranian parliament (Majlis) on Tuesday approved a bill on child and teenage support with overwhelming majority of votes.

General details of the bill on child and teenage support secured 158 yes votes, 18 no votes and 10 abstention.

A total of 222 lawmakers were present at the parliament public session held Tuesday morning.

The bill on child and teenage support has 51 articles and three chapters and involves the legal ways for supporting the children and teenage.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, Iran's Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs Massoumeh Ebtekar made a speech in the parliament in support of the bill.

He described the bill as a progressive and itemized one which can prevent the abuse of children and teenage in the best way.

In the meantime, Fatemeh Zolqadr, one of the MPs supporting the bill urged the lawmaker to give yes vote to the bill to prevent child trafficking, use of child for drug trafficking and decrease the child begging.
