WSA: Irans crude steel output up by 25.8% in H1

MNA World Steel Association (WSA) in its latest report said that Irans crude steel production registered a considerable 25.8 percent growth in the first half of the current year in 2018, compared to the same period last year.

Statistics of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) showed that Islamic Republic of Iran produced more than 21.8 million tons of crude steel in the past year (ended March 20, 2018), standing at 13th place among worlds top 65 steel producers.

It is expected that Iran will stand at 7th place in 2025 with the production capacity of 55 million tons of crude steel at large.

Earlier, World Steel Association (WSA) had announced that Iran stood at 11th ranking in the first five months of the current year in 2018.

IMIDRO also put Irans steel production volume from Jan. to June 2018 at 12,516,000 tons, the rate of which stood at 9,947,000 tons in the same period last year.

Iran produced 2,080,000 tons of crude steel in June 2018, showing a considerable 16.5 percent hike as compared to the same period of last year.

Statistics show that Peoples Republic of China is still the leading producer of crude steel in the world in a way that China produced 881,455,000 tons of crude steel in the past six months of the current year in 2018, showing a considerable 4.6 percent growth as compared to the last years corresponding period.
