Iran unveils new knowledge-based laboratorial equipment

FNA - Iranian Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi unveiled a new home-made Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) system with high efficiency in Tehran on Sunday.

The product is the first Iranian HPLC system which was developed by the country's experts and researchers in nearly 4 years.

The HPLC system was developed in two models configured for four solvents and two solvents used for separation of materials in laboratories as well as pharmaceutical, agricultural and chemical industries and oil and gas sectors.

Iran in July unveiled three new drugs in a ceremony participated by Qazizadeh Hashemi.

The first drug was named Neotadine which is a non-sedative antihistamine. It has the least effects of drowsiness and has been produced in tablets and syrup.

Another medicine which was unveiled is Gloripa which is used to decrease blood sugar and lowers chances of death resulting from cardiovascular diseases. It also prevents deterioration of kidney problems resulting from diabetes and low blood pressure.

The third drug unveiled by Qazizadeh Hashemi was Sinoripa to lower blood sugar. The medicine is a mixture of two drugs needed to reduce blood sugar.

Iran has taken long strides in producing different types of drugs and medical equipment.

Deputy Health Minister for Research and Technology Reza Malekzadeh announced in June that Iranian scientists had produced 22 biological medicine, adding that 97% of the country's needed drugs are manufactured domestically.

"Our scientists have succeeded in the production of 22 biological drugs," Malekzadeh said.

"Also, the capable pharmacists of our country have been able to produce 97% of the medicine needed by the patients inside the country," he added.

Malekzadeh also underlined that cooperation between the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and the pharmaceutical industry has led the country to approximate independency in the production of different types of radio medicine.
