IRNA Tokyo believes that parliamentary relations with Tehran will have important impact on the expansion of mutual cooperation in other areas, a senior official at Japan's House of Representatives said on Thursday.
Yasuhide Nakayama, who chairs foreign relations committee in the House, expressed the hope that the key steps would be taken towards fostering relations between Tokyo and Tehran as the two countries will witness 90th anniversary of establishment of bilateral relations next year.
Nakayama made his remarks in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Japan Morteza Rahmani-Movahed.
The Iranian diplomat, for his part, called for further parliamentary cooperation between the two nations.
He also handed over an invitation letter by Chairman of Iranian Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh to Nakayama to pay an official visit to Tehran.
The invitation was welcomed by the Japanese official and Nakayama expressed the hope that he will travel to Iran in due time.
