IRNA - Leader of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement Ammar Hakim denounced Friday attack on Iranian Consulate General in Basra and also on other governmental bodies.
In a statement, Hakim expressed concerns over Basra accident, saying the country is in a dangerous situation which needs realistic consideration.
Supporting the rights for peaceful protests, he said peaceful rallies have been recognized in the constitutional law of Iraq and are legitimate rights of people, the statement reads.
Senior Iraqi religious authority Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Sistani also described as illegal and illegitimate destroying and firing public and private properties, Hakim added.
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi denounced brutal attack on Irans Consulate General in Basra and called for punishment of the perpetrators of the incident.
The Iraqi government will be responsible for any negligence in this respect, and it is expected to pinpoint the agents and punish them severely, he added.
