Two police officers killed in southern Iran

IRNA Two police officers were killed in an attack by gunmen on a police base in the southren city of Minab in Hormuzgan Province, local deputy police commander of social affairs said.


Colonel Mohammad Sharifi told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Saturday night that Lieutenant Khalil Mahmoudi and Warrant officer Ahmad Jazini were killed in the attack when Minab police station was sprayed with gunshots by the attackers who were shooting from a passing car overnight.

Two conscripts were also injured in the incident and were rushed to a nearby hospital, Colonel Sharifi said.

He added that special and expert forces have been dispatched to Minab and investigation is underway to find the elements involved in the attack.

Minab city lies not far from the provincial capital city of Bandar Abbas in Hormuzgan Province.
