IRNA � Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi extended congratulation for election of Iraq parliament speaker on Saturday.

According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department, Qasemi felicitated election of Mohamed al-Halbousi as new Iraqi parliament speaker to members of parliament, people of Iraq and the new speaker.

He said Iran has always supported democracy, territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Iraq and supports decision made by people representatives.

Iran believes electing parliament speaker is an important and necessary step to establish new Iraqi government; Qasemi expressed the hope to be witness of electing president and prime minister and preparing the grounds to establish new government in Iraq.
