IRNA Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in a message said peaceful and kind co-existence of followers of all religions in Iran is among achievements of Iran's Islamic Revolution and that can serve as a pattern for all other nations.
The message was read out to the participants in the Assyrian Universal Alliance (AUA) World Congress in Beirut on Thursday by Yonathan Betkolia, representative of Assyrian and Chaldean Christians in Iran's Parliament and the AUA secretary-general.
The AUA Congress (September 20-22) opened in Beirut on Thursday with messages by Iran's President Hassan Rouhani and Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani.
Larijani said in his message that followers of all religions in Iran, holding their religious beliefs and respecting values and principles of other religions, have been living in peace and security with faith in God Almighty.
The speaker's message further read that Christian Assyrians, whose religion is the oldest divine faith in Iran and certain world regions, have always been respected by the noble Iranian nation. Assyrians' religion is recognized by Iranian Constitution as an official religion of the country, he added.
The Assyrians, he went on to say, perform their religious duties and observe national and religious rituals like followers of other religions and Muslims in Iran.
Today's world is overwhelmed by religious genocide by enemies of the right path and monotheism, regretted Larijani, adding that such crimes make the monotheists unhappy but all should join hands and while believing in God, defend rights of human beings and ensure a world free of violence and full of injunctions of the divine prophets.
He hoped that the Congress achievements will promote solidarity among nations and followers of religions.
Assyrian Universal Alliance is an ethnic Assyrian umbrella organization in the Middle East, made up of different sectors of the Assyrian federations and organizations throughout the world.
