Iran's priority to solve Idlib crisis peacefully: FM Zarif

IRNA Iran's priority is to solve the problems in Idlib peacefully, Iranian minister of foreign affairs told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Friday.

'We and our partners in Astana Turkey and Russia prevented a humanitarian crisis in Idlib and at the same time, called for punishing the terrorists,' said Mohammad-Javad Zarif speaking on the sidelines of UNGA Session in New York.

'We try to provide security for civilians in Idlib, Lattakia, Aleppo and other Syrian cities.'

Referring to his meetings in New York, he said that the intensive meetings will continue in the coming days as well.

The main subjects of the meetings are mutual ties and the US' move against the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), popularly known as Iran Deal, Zarif said.

Zarif added it is necessary to find a way to keep cooperation with all these foreign ministers as an international commitment, which is not just for the sake of Iran but for international relations.

'There are some talks about the region, Syria, Yemen, and the crimes of the Zionist regime.'

Zarif accompanied President Hassan Rouhani in New York to attend the UN General Assembly annual session.
