IRNA An Iranian border guard has been killed in an armed conflict with the outlaws in western part of the country, a senior military official said on Tuesday.
An Iranian guard was killed Monday night in an armed conflict between Iranian Army forces and an armed outlaw group in the western city of Marivan, Kurdestan Province, said Mohammad-Kazem Taqavi, Deputy Commander of border guards of the country.
A large number of weapons and ammunitions were also seized from the group that were trying to penetrate the country to commit sabotage, he added.
Marivan is 125 km to the west of the provincial capital, Sanandaj, bordering Iraqi Kurdistan. The city shares a 100-km border with Iraq's Sulaymaniyah.
